NewAssignment and Craig

Craig Newmark of Craigslist talks about his seed donation to newassignment.net , Jay Rosen's new adventure in a professional and citizen journalism hybrid.

I went to San Francisco to do a profile on the craigslist foundation, and Craig Newmark was kind enough to give me some time.

He spoke about newassignment.net and I wanted to post this report.

I shot it with two cameras, an HDSony and my laptop cam. I focused the HD on Craig, and the laptop on me. Unfortunately, I bumped the laptop, and the picture is not framed well. However, Craig looks great. After all the years on the soap opera, perhaps I am maturing by making everyone else look better.

He is so well spoken and caring, he will always look great.

To find out more about newassignment.net you may visit its website.

I did get over to the craigslist foundation in the afternoon and visited with Darian Heyman. I will bring that report in the future.

It's Noodlescar!

A profile of the delightful Orange County Blog Noodle Scar produced by the husband and wife team of Lan Bui and Bonny Pierzina.

You will be enchanted.

I am going up this weekend to interview a leader in the Web, and profile his foundation. You have all used his website, and won't always say what for. Leave me a comment and a guess.

The Jet Set Show, Steve and Zadi's Wedding Night Video and Rocketboom

In this vlog I talk with Steve and Zadi from "The Jet Set Show". This children's show is their contribution to the new medium. Zadi and Steve also talk about Amanda Congdon and Andrew Baron, and their involvement in the show and the future.
I wanted to be kind and not deal with gossip, but the reality is that the Rocketboom blowup has brought more attention to this space in the media.
I am enjoying my visit in this space, and am hatching my own contribution to come soon. Tomorrow we should have ready the 88slide profile.
Peace
Daniel

MSM meets the Vloggers

I am fascinated by the new wave of communication coming from vloggers. I went Saturday to a “Meet the Vloggers” night at the Apple Store in LA, and just finished my MCVlog 1. You will see more this week....I will profile 88slide, jetsetshow, and noodlescar. Also, there will be some interesting comments in the vlog tomorrow (if I can figure out the editing) from the creators of The Jet Set Show regarding the Rocketboom blowup. My thanks to www.jetsetshow.com , www.88slide.com and www.noodlescar.com . The MSM meets the vloggers.

Peace. Daniel

Lebanon

I send my prayers and best wishes to the good people of Lebanon and Israel.

I don't have answers, but I have been in that part of the world, and hosted of all things a beauty pageant live from Beirut the day after Israel had retaliated and bombed Beirut. Bombers were flying overhead as we were rehearsing, and the producers had pumped up the music so that I wouldn't be aware.

Several people were killed in those raids, including some firefighters in Beirut. In the US, we are not aware of many of the peaceloving people in that part of the world. Men and women and children who just want to live, work, play, as we do everywhere. Perhaps the music is turned up too loud.

The MSM

I've worked in the main stream media for my career. It has given me the opportunity to be introduced to literally hundreds of millions of people through the world.

I am fascinated by the participation and the growing community in the vlogging world. It changes the dynamic from top down to unlimited exchange.

I am working on the best way to join these two worlds, not to pit one against another. Communication is after all the goal.

So, I join you fellow vloggers. Thanks for your inspiration.

An Inconvenient Truth

Okay, I got a hybrid car already. However, I just saw "An Inconvenient Truth". What was I thinking for so long. I always thought that solar energy was cool, knew that worldwide population growth was exploding, but I did my time driving an SUV.

As the Nile river was drying up, I was into denial.

So, bit by bit, recyclable within my reach by recyclable, I will make a difference.

I spend time most summers backpacking in the Sierra Mountains near Yosemite. I always do lo impact camping, taking all my trash out with me, leaving not a trace as I walk through extraordinary country.

So we all should all tread more lightly. Especially us American pigs. We consume more than we need to. Corn in particular, but I will get into that another time.
